solidworks resolving virtual components

Im trying to rename some components that i converted from extenal components to virtual components, and im getting a message saying that I need to resolve the component before it can be re-named. The components in question are not lightweight, and i cant figure out how to further resolve them.. so im a little lost. Any one know how to do this?
